Cold Laser Therapy

What is a Cold Laser?Cold Laser Therapy
The Cold Laser, also known as Low Level Laser or Soft Laser, produces a red laser beam, which is healing to the body (as opposed to a Hot Laser, which is destructive). Cold Lasers promote rapid reduction of pain, accelerate healing time, and accelerate growth and repair. Over 2,000 studies have been published regarding the safety and efficacy of Cold Laser Therapy. We use the Erchonia Cold Laser, as it has been researched extensively and was the first to be approved by the FDA for the treatment of pain.

How does it work?
This technology often baffles people: they have experienced its incredible healing benefits themselves, but they still don't understand how the Cold Laser works and why. So, let me take the mystery out this process and make it easily digestible!

• Quantum physics knows that cells communicate through light energy.
• Different organs/tissues in our body resonate at their own specific frequency.
• Unhealthy" cells and tissues resonate at frequencies different from "healthy" cells (they vibrate faster or slower).
• The Cold Laser is then programmed with the appropriate frequencies to bring the cells/tissues back to a healthy state.

Through photonic (light) absorption, the laser light energy converts into chemical energy which results in a cascade of events at a cellular level resulting in the following health benefits:

• Promotes healing in many conditions because it increases the ATP (energy of cell) and activates enzymes in the targeted cells.
• Growth factors respond within the cells and tissues as a result of increased ATP and protein synthesis.
• Promotes DNA transcription and translation, thereby producing healthy cell proliferation
• Relieves pain as a result of increased endorphin (our natural "pain killer" chemicals) release.
• Strengthens the immune system response via increasing levels of lymphocyte activity.
• Increases local microcirculation and enhances tissue regeneration.
• Stimulates mitochondrial activity (The mitochondria are the little powerhouses within each and every cell. Their job is to produce the energy (ATP) we need to heal, and the energy which keeps us alive).
• Increases serotonin (our natural "feel good" chemical).
• Balances the immune system.

What are Cold Lasers used for?Cold Laser Therapy

• Acute and chronic pain reduction: conditions such as tension headaches to TMJ, neck and shoulder aches, sprains, frozen shoulder, chest pain, tennis elbow, arthritis, sciatic pain, Achilles tendonitis, joint pain, and heel spurs all respond dramatically with Cold Laser Therapy.
• Fibromyalgia patients in clinical and quality of life indicators experienced the following: alleviation of pain, reduction of number of tender points, and improvements in skin fold tenderness, morning stiffness, sleep disturbance, muscular spasm, fatigue, and depression.
• Allergy desensitization
• Brain and nerve disorders; ADD; Autism
• Scar tissue; burns; skin disorders
• Wound healing (surgical wounds; diabetic ulcers; bedsores)
• Sports injuries
• Preventatively to balance weak muscles and improve performance (Pro cyclist Lance Armstrong and pro golfer Tiger Woods use it).
• And acupuncture without needles.

How long are the treatments?
Treatments can vary in time from seconds to minutes depending on the condition. Research studies show that there may be a dose dependent response, so it may be more effective to treat at lower doses at multiple intervals then to treat a single time with a high dose.

How long does the treatment last?
A treatment plan may vary, depending on the condition. For instance, an acute soft tissue injury or open wound may require multiple short treatments initially, then the interval between treatments will lengthen as the condition improves.

As you can see, Cold Laser Therapy is an advanced technology with boundless uses. This therapy is totally safe for both the doctor and the patient without any negative side effects. And, the Cold Laser can be used with practically any kind of -itis or -osis you could think of.

Currently, we are one of the few offices in Ottawa to offer this remarkable technology. No longer should anyone think their condition is "hopeless" or they have to just "live with it". There is always hope. We are here for you.
